Shipping Car Seats — safely packed, transported insured
Logisticoo ships car seats palettised and protected to keep their shape — from a single sports seat and complete leather sets to small batches for vehicle refurbishers, with a fixed-price quote in 30 minutes. A single car seat weighs 15 to 30 kg depending on its equipment, and electrically adjustable comfort seats with airbag and seat heating even more; a complete interior quickly reaches 100 to 150 kg. The tricky part here is less the kilos than the surfaces: leather and Alcantara take on permanent indentations under lashing straps, and adjustment mechanisms and airbag connectors must not be subjected to impact loads. We therefore transport seats upright on pallets, secured strap-free over the frame or console and never lashed across the upholstery. For restoration businesses and car dealerships we bundle several seats onto a mesh pallet or industrial pallet. Your personal dispatcher arranges collection in one of 147 cities in Germany or internationally in 55 countries — for instance when upholstery workshops abroad are being supplied. For urgent workshop appointments, express direct transport runs straight through with no handling.
Packaging & load securing
Seats are wrapped individually in stretch and bubble wrap, bolted to the pallet at the seat console or frame or secured with straps over the metal structure — never over the upholstery and side bolsters. Cardboard edge protection prevents scuff marks on leather surfaces; the pallet is stowed with a tight, positive fit in the vehicle so that the seats do not tip over.
What matters
- Seats on the airbag side: secure the connectors and do not conceal the airbag on the waybill — pyrotechnic modules must be declared
- Move electric seats to the mid position; this protects the adjustment motors and rails
- Keep leather dry and clean before wrapping, and never put film directly onto damp leather
- Cover seat rails with cardboard — otherwise the sharp edges damage neighbouring cargo
- Pad several seats per pallet separately, do not stack them on top of one another

From a single seat to a full set — weight and vehicle
A single car seat weighs 15 to 30 kg, and electrically adjustable comfort seats with airbag and seat heating more; a complete interior including the rear bench reaches 100 to 150 kg. A single seat travels as a part load or general cargo in a Sprinter van, several seats we bundle onto a mesh pallet or industrial pallet, and complete leather sets run as a part load on a 7.5 t truck. For vehicle refurbishers and upholstery workshops with small batches, we palletise several sets together. What determines the choice of vehicle is not the kilos, but the quantity and the protection of the surfaces — which is why seats are almost always carried palletised and rarely loose.
Protecting leather — load securing without pressure on the upholstery
Leather and Alcantara take on permanent indentations under lashing straps, and adjustment mechanisms and airbag connectors cannot tolerate impact loads. We therefore secure exclusively via the seat frame and console, never over the upholstery or side bolsters, and bolt the seat to the pallet via the rails wherever possible. Cardboard angles protect leather surfaces from scuff marks, and seat rails are covered so that their sharp edges do not damage neighbouring cargo. Electric seats travel in the mid position to relieve the adjustment motors and rails. On the load bed the pallet stands with a tight, positive fit in accordance with VDI 2700, so that the seats do not tip over or press against one another.

What does it cost to ship car seats?
The price comes up front as a fixed price; as a guide, the rules of thumb (±15%): Sprinter van around €1.10/km (from €89), 7.5 t truck around €1.45/km (from €169). A single seat travels as a part load as an affordable individual item. A complete leather set by Sprinter direct transport from Berlin to Munich (around 585 km) comes to roughly €1.10/km, so about €645. Cost drivers are the quantity, sensitive full-leather surfaces requiring extra packaging effort, and urgent direct transports. For refurbishers with recurring runs we set up fixed rates.

Frequently asked questions
Can seats with a built-in side airbag simply be shipped?
Built-in airbag modules in seats can be transported, but they must be reported to us: pyrotechnic gas generators are subject to dangerous-goods concessions or requirements depending on their condition and packaging. Your dispatcher checks this in advance and selects the permitted mode of transport — and it costs you no time on the fixed price.
How do I prevent pressure marks in the leather during transport?
What matters is that no strap tension bears on the upholstery. We lash exclusively over the frame and console, pad the side bolsters with cardboard and stow the pallet with a tight, positive fit. That way even a light full-leather set arrives without any imprints.
What does it cost to ship car seats?
A single seat travels as a part load as an affordable individual item, with short routes at the minimum price of €89. We calculate a direct transport from around €1.10/km in the Sprinter van (±15%); a leather set Berlin–Munich therefore comes to about €645. Quantity and postcodes are all we need for the fixed price in 30 minutes.
Can several seats be bundled into one consignment?
Yes. For refurbishers and car dealerships we bundle several seats onto a mesh pallet or industrial pallet, each padded individually and not stacked. This saves items compared with individual shipping and at the same time lowers the risk of damage to the surfaces.
Are seats also transported abroad?
Yes, we deliver to 55 countries — for instance to upholstery workshops and restoration businesses abroad. Securing via the frame and console remains identical; for airbag seats your dispatcher additionally clarifies the cross-border dangerous-goods requirements in advance.
