The densely built-up city state has narrow access roads, tunnel restrictions and limited loading zones, which is why we frequently tranship heavy shipments onto smaller vehicles in Nice or Ventimiglia. Routing runs either via Switzerland and Italy (Gotthard–Genoa–Ventimiglia) or via Lyon and the A8; from Munich it is around 950 kilometres. Customs clearance

Monaco forms a customs union with France and thus belongs to the EU customs territory — there is no customs clearance, and deliveries are treated like shipments to France for VAT purposes. Customs formalities only arise for third-country goods entering the principality via an EU port.
