The main axis from southern Germany runs along the A3 via Passau, Vienna and Nickelsdorf/Hegyeshalom onto the M1 to Budapest — around 680 km from Munich. To eastern Hungary (Debrecen) onward via the M3; from northern Germany alternatively via Prague, Brno and the D2/M15.
