Logistically, the border choice is decisive: the direct way runs through Serbia via Merdare, but the Serbian-Kosovar crossings are politically sensitive and at times unpredictable — in that case our dispatchers reroute via North Macedonia and Hani i Elezit. We run both variants regularly and keep the transit documents prepared so the decision can still be made at short notice. Routes & corridors

The main axis from Germany runs via Austria and Hungary into Serbia (E75 Belgrade–Niš), then via Merdare to Pristina. Alternatively via North Macedonia, entering at Hani i Elezit (from Skopje) — a sensible option when the Serbian-Kosovar crossings back up.

Customs clearance

Kosovo is a third country: EU export declaration, transit under T1 or TIR through the Balkan states, and import clearance by Kosovo customs. Under the Stabilisation and Association Agreement with the EU, an EUR.1 or origin declaration secures preferential duty rates; we agree the choice of border crossing (Serbia or North Macedonia) based on the current situation.
