Routes & corridors

The main axis is Corridor X: via Austria and Hungary into Serbia (E75, Belgrade–Niš), then the Preševo–Tabanovce border crossing directly to Skopje. Alternatively via Romania and Bulgaria with entry at Deve Bair (Kriva Palanka) — a sensible option when the Serbian route is congested.

Customs clearance

North Macedonia is a third country but has been a member of the Common Transit Convention since 2015: transit runs fully electronically under T1/T2 through to Skopje, or alternatively under TIR. Through the Stabilisation and Association Agreement with the EU, EUR.1 certificates or declarations of origin secure preferential — usually zero — duty rates for originating goods.
