Freight forwarder Turkey: transport from Germany to Turkey & back

Germany is Turkey's most important trading partner: automotive plants such as Ford Otosan in Kocaeli and Tofaş in Bursa are intertwined with German suppliers; white goods from Arçelik/Beko, textiles from Istanbul and Denizli, and foodstuffs roll northbound, while machinery, chemicals and components head south. On the customs side, Turkey is better than its reputation: under the customs union, industrial goods travel duty-free with an A.TR certificate, and since joining the Common Transit Convention in 2012, transit runs electronically under T1/T2 — our Turkish colleagues manage clearance in Kapıkule and Istanbul directly. Shipments run via the Balkan route through Belgrade and Sofia to the Kapitan Andreevo border crossing (2,200 to 2,600 kilometres) or by RoRo ferry from Trieste with trailer loading. Express direct runs with two-driver crews reach Istanbul in three and a half days; we plan refrigerated, dangerous goods and oversized cargo with specialised equipment. Return loads from Istanbul, Bursa and Izmir are almost always available thanks to Turkey's export volume and help stabilise rates; our local team books them directly with the shipper — no detour through freight exchanges and no language barrier.

Routes & corridors

Overland via the Balkan route: Budapest–Belgrade–Sofia to the Kapitan Andreevo/Kapıkule border crossing, the busiest land crossing into Turkey — 2,200 to 2,600 km depending on the point of departure. Alternatively, the RoRo ferry from Trieste to Turkey with trailer loading, which saves driving time and transit borders.

Customs clearance

Under the EU–Turkey customs union, industrial goods travel duty-free with an A.TR movement certificate; agricultural products move under EUR.1. Turkey has been part of the Common Transit Convention since 2012, so transit runs under T1/T2 in NCTS rather than TIR; on the export side, an ATLAS export declaration is also required.
